Guest speaker will be Mark Scott, J.D., LL.M (Principal, Estate & Trust Services @ Kaufman Rossin) discussing "Taxes". 2 CLE credit will be available. Topics to be discussed include: tax planning, retirement plan contributions / conversions, identity theft and scams, flexible spending accounts / health services accounts, foreign investment disclosures, estate & gift tax planning, charitable contributions, & investment planning strategies.
ABOUT MARK SCOTT
Mark holds a Master of Laws in Taxation and a Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. His areas of concentration include complex estate tax planning, gift tax planning, trust tax planning, and estate and gift tax return examinations. He enjoys the sophisticated challenges offered in the nonresident noncitizen and offshore trust planning regimes. Mark is an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law’s graduate Master of Laws in Taxation program, teaching the Taxation of Trusts and Estates.
Mark is a member of The Florida Bar and served on the Continuing Legal Education Committee. He is a Director and the current Secretary for The Florida Bar Tax Section, and serves on the Executive Council and Long Range Planning committee. In addition, Mark is the current President of the Greater Miami Tax Institute; and is on the Board of Directors and the current Treasurer for the Estate Planning Council of Greater Miami. Mark is a member of the Miami Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and previously served on the GLBT Community Projects Advisory Committee. Mark previously represented Miami on Lambda Legal's National Leadership Council. He also is a member of the Mount Sinai Hospital Young Founders and served on the Young Presidents’ Board of Directors.
