MDGLCC’s 12th Annual Gala Awards “Celebration of the Sun” (the yellow gala) on June 22nd
The Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber Of Commerce (MDGLCC) will honor corporate and individual supporters of the Miami-Dade LGBT community at its 12th Annual Gala Awards Celebration, on Saturday, June 22, at the Hilton Miami Downtown Hotel, 1601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami starting at 6pm. The honorees were selected for their long-term commitment to fostering diversity, as well as for their efforts in contributing to the overall well-being and quality of life in South Florida.
This annual event, MDGLCC’s principal fundraising effort of the year, helps sustain operations and the ever-increasing demand to expand programming. The 2013 Honorees are; Kaufman, Rossin & Co., P.A. (AT&T Business of the Year), David Bromstad (Sherwin-Williams Business Person of the Year), and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (Regions Bank Non-Profit Organization of the Year).
The 12th Annual Gala Awards Celebration will consist of a fabulous silent auction followed by dinner, awards ceremony, and dancing. Tickets are $2,000 for tables of 10 or $200 individual tickets. Each admission includes reserved seating, grand buffet, open bar (featuring Bacardi brands (specially GREY GOOSE vodka & Hatuey beer), wine, and non-alcoholic beverages), gift bag, parking, raffle participation, and complimentary access to the “After Soiree” at Hilton’s Encore Lounge for dancing & entertainment.
Psychedelic street artist Tyler Wallach from New York will be a special guest artist in residence at the event. The proclaimed love child of Keith Haring and Lisa Frank, Wallach’s CLOUDZ characters and graphics feature brightly colored street-art-inspired paintings, stickers and neon sunglasses. He will be creating five of his iconic pieces of art during the gala which will then be auctioned off at the end of the dinner to raise money for the LGBT Visitor Center (sponsored by MetLife).In addition to the live auction of Wallach’s art pieces, the gala will feature a silent auction with numerous items including an exotic trip for two to Curaçao, arguably the most LGBT-friendly island in the Caribbean, courtesy of the Curaçao Tourist Board. The Curaçao vacation includes round-trip business class airfare on Dutch Antilles Express and a four-night stay at the luxurious Floris Suites Hotel. Other highlights of the silent auction will be an autographed Fender guitar, signed by Adam Lambert, courtesy of Hard Rock Café; travel packages to New York, Laguna Beach, Montreal, Las Vegas and San Francisco; IKEA furniture; and “Ocho” show tickets courtesy of the Adrienne Arsht Center.
