We invite you to join us at a new virtual program entitled MDGLCC "Virtual SOCAM (Support Our Cultural Arts Members) Social".  This event will be conducted via Zoom with free admission to Chamber members and the community at large.  The concept is to provide a virtual networking opportunity where a cultural arts organization of our Chamber interacts with guests.  A museum guide or curator will showcase an exhibition and field questions from attendees during the hour long event.

 

This MDGLCC "Virtual SOCAM (Support Our Cultural Arts Members) Social" is supported by Bacardi.  At the beginning of the event, a Bacardi Aficionado will showcase how to confection your favorite Bacardi drink at home.  Our 1st event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26th from 5pm-6pm hosted by The Wolfsonian?FIU.  Get ready to enjoy your BACARDI LIME MOJITO drink (ingredients and method are listed below) and the exhibition presented by curator Frank Luca (Chief Librarian at The Wolfsonian?FIU). 

EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION
Art Deco illustrator, Frank Macoy ("Mac") Harshberger and musical composer Holland Robinson were long-time partners in every sense of the word. Both men grew to maturity in Tacoma, Washington, spent time in post-WWI "Gay Paree" and returned to the States where the two opened a grand studio together in New York City in the late twenties. As business partners, Mac illustrated the sheet music covers of Holland's musical compositions, and they collectively published Deco-influenced illustrated children's books. Their work earned the couple positive critical and financial success that endured until the economic woes and social conservative swing of the Depression decade strained their partnership. This talk by Chief Librarian will focus on their music and artwork of the "Jazz Age".

BACARDI LIME MOJITO

Ingredients:
2 parts BACARDÍ Lime Flavored Rum
4 lime wedges
6 - 8 fresh mint leaves
2 heaped tbsp caster sugar
1 part club soda
Sprig of fresh mint

Method:
1) In a highball glass, add the lime wedges, sugar and mint, and gently muddle until the limes release juice.
2) Add BACARDÍ Lime Flavored Rum and mix ingredients with a bar spoon.
3) Fill with crushed ice and stir once again.
4) Add club soda and garnish with mint.
