Please join the NOTABLES of Miami Jewish Health Systems and University of Miami Department of Cinema and Interactive Media for a Cocktail Buffet & Private Screening of THE LEAP, a short film produced and directed by University of Miami graduate student Yale Yang. Filmed on the Douglas Gardens Campus of Miami Jewish Health Systems, the filmmaker uses science fiction to tell the story of a physicist suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, his last memory is of an experiment gone wrong.
Yang, who is pursuing a Master’s degree in Fine Arts at the University of Miami Department of Cinema and Interactive Media, was inspired to write the story after seeing how his own grandfather suffered from Alzheimer’s disease following the loss of his wife. Yang hopes that his movie will help raise awareness for the disease.
Dr. Marc Agronin, Medical Director for Mental Health and Clinical Research at Miami Jewish Health Systems served as story consultant on the project that will be shown to an international audience at the World Alzheimer’s Conference, April 20th in Taiwan.
Proceeds from this event helps NOTABLES, a supportive arm of the Miami Jewish Health Systems, raise funds for the Memory Center and support the progress being made against Alzheimer’s disease.
